Soft drink firms form IBA beverage body

Last updated: 07 July 2010

The Coca-Cola Co and PepsiCo have joined forces with a number of other leading beverage firms in India to form a trade body to address concerns faced by the sector.

The Indian Beverage Association (IBA) was formed this month. Members include: Dabur India, Red Bull India, Jain Irrigation Systems, Tetra Pak India, Pearl Drinks, Bengal Beverages, Coca-Cola India and PepsiCo India Holdings.

Arvind Varma, secretary general of the IBA said the body aims to be “the national voice” for the non-alcoholic beverage industry and will serve as an inter-face between the industry and the Government and public.

“We are extremely happy to announce the formation of India’s first-ever Indian Beverage Association (IBA)," said Varma. "The association will serve as an inter-face between the industry, the government and the public, besides providing a unified and focussed viewpoint in respect of legislative and regulatory matters.”
